In honor of another year's Advent calendar of music from Bhagpuss over at Inventory Full, I thought I'd provide my own quirky piece of Christmas music. My wife and I saw Dar perform this live at the sadly now defunct York Street Cafe in Newport, Kentucky in 1996; the upstairs where the concert was held was full to bursting with people, and I'm sure that a fire marshal somewhere would have had a fit if they'd have seen the crowd. Just Dar and her guitar, but it was a magical night where everybody had an absolute blast.
Dar Williams is a new name to me and that's an excellent trackso thanks for the introduction.
I just this minute finished the final entry for the Advent Calendar and right now I feel like I'd be happpy never to hear a Christmas song again! I started collecting ideas far too early this year, all the way back in October and I've listened to literally hundreds of the damn things. If I do it again next year I'll try to remember to start much later and do a lot more on the fly.
Thanks for all the comments. Not only does it make me feel at least someone is enjoying it but it gives me an oppportunity to add some context. I'll probably do a wrap-up post with a little more of that before the New Year but right now I've about had enough.
And to be fair, it's just a small thing compared to the effort you put in these previous years for your Advent musical calendar. Thank you for making the Holidays that much brighter!
