Meme Monday: Miscellaneous Memes the Third

I suppose I could do anything I want to on this blog, but I do try to have themes for these Meme Mondays. But sometimes, you know, that gigantic catch-all of "Miscellaneous" sounds like a good idea.

Again.

And again.

I'd have figured the "meow" would have
done it, but the players likely thought that
the DM was being really immersive.

Alas, I know which side I'm on.
From me-me.

Sure, it's been around since Classic launched,
but it's still a great one.

My youngest is a percussionist
and also plays D&D, so... Brilliant!

    1. Oh, have I got a surprise for you!

This is what happens when the Proud Papa comes out. I've a couple of YouTube videos of her:

This first one, which was filmed during her Freshman year when she was on the University of Louisville Marching Cards. It's entitled Here and Beyond, and was a commercial made for use during NCAA Football and Basketball season. She's the snare player looking serious, so she gets plenty of screen time.

The second one is audio only, but it was recorded her sophomore year of high school when she was a member of the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble, which is a tryout based ensemble which is part of the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music (for reference, her big sister was an oboist in the middle school version of CYWE back in the day). This is a Wind Ensemble piece by Alfred Reed titled Russian Christmas Music and you have to turn up the volume a bit to hear it. If you're wondering which percussionist is her, she starts the whole thing off with the bells and switches to a variety of instruments throughout the piece.

I've spent some time trying to chase down some videos from when she was also in the high school's Ambassador Jazz Band, but no dice so far. Alas that the high school's marching band was devastated due to the pandemic, so it'll be a few years before they can build it back up to the 120-130 people it was pre-pandemic.

    3. Wow, that's so impressive. Your family could start an ensemble of their own! When my husband and I do the "what do you wish you could do more than anything" we both want to be drummers. Too cool. And Mike Pero was me, my errant fingers send the first one in the middle. Old age is hell! Ancient

    4. I'd love to learn how to drum as well, as I'm a huge Rush fan and as a consequence a great Neil Peart fan, but I have this eternally bad habit of when I get excited I pick up the pace, which only gets people mad at me. Plus, I don't think I have the tolerance for the long slog of practicing just to get to the point of where I'm tolerable.
