Weirdness

I've noticed a very odd trend on my stats the past few weeks, and it's the sudden spike in Russian websites visiting the blog.

At first I saw the increased traffic and thought that I must have been added to a widely read blogger's lists, but then I saw where they were coming from: tons of *.ru and [random miscellaneous letters].com sites.

Oh.

Well, that was deflating.

  1. What's wrong with getting traffic from Russian sites? Unless they are of a questionable nature...

    1. I checked out about three or four; two of them were blocked by my security software, and the others... Let's just say I'm surprised they weren't blocked.

  2. One day I checked my spam and I had something like 248 in a day. Almost all .ru. Have no idea what I said to cause that. Maybe one of my made up words meant something nefarious in Russian!

    1. You probably had the right (wrong) keyword show up in a post, and voila!

I'm still trying to figure out what mine is. If it was a few days ago, I'd have said ESPN, but it's been going on for the past month...

  3. Same here, although I didn't dare check them out. They went up to 1000 hits a day, although it seems to have blown over by now.

Still no idea about what was going on, although I'm getting better and better at making up conspiracy theories. ;)
